If you’re looking for an authentic Scottish hospitality experience, look no further than Great Glen B & B, located on 10 acres, near Loch Ness (pictured below) in the Scottish Highlands.

Hosts Sonia and Graham have gone to great lengths to create a home-like environment perfect for families.

They stop at nothing to make sure that you feel right at home and they’ve made every effort to ensure that guests of all ages have a relaxing and enjoyable visit.

For the kids, they have a trampoline, swing set, bikes, balls, and a soccer field!

A plethora of games, books, and movies are available in the main living area of the house.

The Woodland Walk is a great way for families and couples to get out and explore the grounds. Keep your eyes peeled for the hidden animals!

Adults are welcomed and encouraged to take a relaxing soak in the hot tub and/or enjoy drinks by the river.

Great Glen B&B is a true farm house with horses, Shetland sheep (lambs in the spring), and my favorite- highland cows.

The animals are all friendly and enjoy any attention guests want to provide! However, the cows were being particularly camera shy during our visit, but we still enjoyed their company!

The surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking and it is everything you’d imagine when picturing the Scottish Highlands! There are numerous walking and cycling trails nearby that lead to the last remaining Caledonian forest of Glen Affric or to Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness.

GreatGlen (49)

Great Glen B&B boasts a selection of maps and laminated walk and cycle routes. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the area and are happy to offer up suggestions on things to do and see nearby. (Urquhart Castle pictured below.)

Guests are offered afternoon tea in front of the fire place, which unfortunately we were unable to enjoy since we arrived late one evening and left the next morning! (I strongly recommend you spend more than one night at Great Glen B & B in order to enjoy all of the wonderful hospitality and amenities.)

GreatGlen (19)

A full cooked-to-order Scottish breakfast is served either in their beautiful dining room or, if the weather is nice, on the patio out back.

Sonia and Graham truly pull out all the stops to make each guest feel comfortable and taken care of.

GreatGlen (12)

Everything from bathrobes to a tea tray and homemade cakes are included in each room.

GreatGlen (46)

There are 3 suites of different sizes and sizes to accommodate a variety of family sizes. We stayed in the Urquhart Suite.

GreatGlen (4) GreatGlen (5)

This beautiful and roomy suite has its own large bay window that overlooks the cherry blossom garden and hills of the Great Glen.

GreatGlen (11)

There is an individual entrance from outside that opens up to the spacious patio.

The Urquhart Suite includes a fully equipped kitchen and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower.

And of course, while in Loch Ness, keep your eyes peeled for Nessie! The closest thing we saw to the famed Loch Ness monster was this cloud formation that appeared over the hill in front of the house.

GreatGlen (48)

(See his gaping mouth and hump coming up over the hill?)

One final thing I must mention about Great Glen B&B is the recent addition of their Loch Ness Glamping Experience.

GreatGlen (31)

4 Armadillas are set on the hillside near the house. Each pod sleeps 2 people and is fully equipped with a TV/DVD/iPod set up, toilet and shower, and under-floor heating! Each unit has its own private BBQ/fire put and there is a community cooking room available for use in bad weather, or anytime, really. Perfect for couples or families, who can book two pods right next to each other for the ultimate glamping experience!

So, whether you’re a couple looking to escape the big city life for a few days or a family hoping for a fun and relaxing getaway, Great Glen in Loch Ness is an excellent choice!

We’d like to thank Great Glen B&B for their partnership, as they provided us with a complimentary stay so we could share our experiences with you.

As always, our write-ups are an accurate reflection of the experiences we had.
