It’s no wonder why Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is considered one of Edinburgh’s finest attractions! In 2013, it earned TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Award and was named the top landmark attraction in Scotland and #2 in the UK, based on millions of reviews and opinions from travelers around the world!
There are FIVE floors of hands-on, interactive fun. The mirrored maze was a riot!
Many awesome light displays and exhibits are found throughout the five floors.
It’s great fun for people of all ages!
Be sure to bring your camera, as there are many interesting and hilarious photo-ops!
With a crafty configuration of a mirror, lenses, daylight (required for good viewing), and an entertaining obscura operator, the Camera Obscura show is a fascinating and highly amusing way to see both panoramas and close-ups of the city of Edinburgh and learn about its history.
Allow yourself at least two hours to visit Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, as there is so much to see! Your ticket is good all day and you are welcome to come and go as you please. If you arrive late and don’t have time to see everything, you’ll be provided with a free pass to visit the following day.

I loved the above illusion- a flat drawing of one image appears on a reflective tube as a completely different image!
The Infinity Light Tunnel was another favorite of mine. I had fun with a slow shutter speed on my camera to capture the images below!
Try to walk straight across the bridge in the rotating light tunnel (below) without stumbling. I bet you can’t do it!
They are so confident that you will enjoy your visit, if you feel it is not up to your expectations, they will refund your admission ticket! Having now visited myself, I can pretty much guarantee you will have a great time!
The rooftop offers unrivaled and incredible views of the city. Binoculars and powerful telescopes are available free of charge allowing visitors to see many of Edinburgh’s most beautiful and historic sites.
Viewing panels help visitors identify landmarks around the city.
