Iceland is one of our favorite countries in the world. Visit Iceland now and it just might become one of your favorite places too!

—A Sense Of Seclusion—

A third of the country’s population lives in its capital city, Reykjavik. An hour on Route 1 in any direction and it’s easy to feel like you have an entire country to yourself.

—Horses—

These beautiful animals can be found all over the stunning countryside. They are friendly, if a bit shy. But they will be your best friend if you give them a piece of healthy fruit! Just remember not to call them ponies!

—Northern Lights—

Some of the best light shows on Earth can be found in the Land of Fire and Ice. The displays rank on a scale from 1 to 10. We had just missed a 10 the night before we arrived, but we felt EXTREMELY lucky with our 3 to 5 rated evenings! One can only imagine how beautiful the aurora is when it’s a 10. Just be careful when booking a guided tour: we saw many buses heading back to town before midnight, which is when the real show begins.

—Glaciers and Ice Caves—

Scrambling over a glacier to find the perfect ice cave might seem like a daunting task, but we promise you it’s worth it! Light shines through crystal walls as you explore these natural wonders of the world. The caves change every year, giving avid explorers all the more reason to visit Iceland more than once.

I can’t wait to get to Iceland! It looks absolutely amazing. Not sure when I’ll be able to fit it in with living in the Middle East right now, but I know I’ll get there sooner or later.

  5. OMG!!!
I want so bad to go to Iceland!
My husband and I keep talking about adding it to our travel plan, but it´s just to far from we where we are now (Thailand). Thanks for sharing amazing tips and stunning photos! Inspiring!

  6. Many great reasons to visit Iceland. I am already plan to visit Iceland, but thank you for the further inspiration. Love those ponies….ammm. I mean horses.

  7. Carol Colborn

We saw everything except for the Northern Lights (don’t go in summer!) but we went to the Blue Lagoon!

    • I wouldn’t quite say don’t go in the summer, because summer provides almost endless hours of sunlight… more time for exploring! We can’t wait to visit in the summer to hike in the Highlands. Definitely don’t plan on seeing the Northern Lights in the summer months, but even people who visit in the winter months aren’t guaranteed a sighting of the aurora. I think anytime of year you visit Iceland, you won’t be disappointed. It’s unlike any other place on earth!

  8. Iceland is on my 2016 list! I’m aching to visit. Your photos looks great. I’m always awe-struck when I see photos of the Northern Lights. Can’t wait to see them in person!

  9. So, it seems that we share Iceland as one of our favourite places! It really is an amazing country to visit. I’ve been twice (totalling a month) and already planning on going back next year to explore more.

Remoteness and pure nature are the top things about Iceland!

  10. I’d love to see that amazing country but have a hard time knowing that Iceland still hunts whales. They’ve dropped the numbers still it’s not subsistence whaling, but commercial.

  11. Iceland has been on my list for a while but keeps ranking higher and higher for the great adventure opportunities and Northern Lights! Maybe in 2016!

  12. This is right up my street, I’m actually going to Iceland on Tuesday for the first time! 😀 Good call on the Northern Lights midnight show, I’m going to check my booking now! I hope to get pictures as beautiful as yours guys. I’ll have to check out your other stuff on Iceland, I’m getting so excited 🙂

  13. I’m so sold! I want to go to the Blue Lagoon! Your photos rock.

  14. 5 fantastic reasons to visit Iceland! It’s one of our favorite places too–we are heading back next summer and can’t wait! I would love to see the northern lights and ice caves sometime. I think we need to plan a visit in the winter months, too, so we don’t have the midnight sun the whole time!

  15. I absolutely love Iceland!
