Located close to the Cambodian border and set into the hillside of Sam Mountain (Núi Sam in Vietnamese), Victoria Nui Sam Lodge provides the perfect atmosphere to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeWe were greeted with warm Vietnamese hospitality.  All of the employees we encountered during our stay were friendly and professional. The hotel serves as a training academy for future employees with the Victoria Group. Victoria Hotels & Resorts has several properties throughout Vietnam and Laos, with Nui Sam Lodge being the most recently built.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThe layout of the property is uniquely designed providing scenic views at every turn! Each one of the 36 stone bungalows and villas has a private terrace offering panoramic views of the abundant rice paddies and countryside below. ->Check Availability for Nui Sam Lodge<-

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeUnfortunately there is no elevator on site, so potential guests are encouraged to contact the lodge with concerns about mobility issues. Some of the units require a few flights of stairs to get to, but again, the personalized view makes it all worth it!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeEven though bustling Chau Doc is only 4 miles (7 km) down the road, you definitely feel worlds away at Nui Sam. Experience peace as you practice tai chi or yoga or as you simply sit among the lush and picturesque surroundings of the lodge.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThere are 3 spacious room types to choose from: Superior, Deluxe, and Family rooms. The family-style rooms are located in semi-detatched villas and are perfect for large families, as there are additional beds and the possibility of adjoining rooms. We would recommend a superior or deluxe room for couples seeking a more peaceful and private stay. ->Check Current Prices<-

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeWe were booked in a family-style villa, which was extremely spacious! The only downside for us was the adjoining room and the boisterous family staying next door, as there wasn’t much sound-proofing between the two units. Other than that, the unit was perfect, and the bed… so comfortable!!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThe best part?! The views! As mentioned before, every unit has outstanding views from a private patio or balcony. What a refreshing way to wake up with the sun rising over the rice paddy fields below!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThe private balcony is the perfect place to enjoy a snack, read a book, or simply stare out at the endless horizon. Look far enough and you can see Cambodia!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeVictoria Nui Sam LodgeAfter a few hours of relaxation, you might find yourself feeling up for a little adventure! Rent a bike from the lodge and discover the local highlights!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThere is also a ‘Health Trail’ on property for you to explore! Put on your walking shoes and follow the green = identifying the path that encircles the lodge.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeKeep your eyes peeled for little critters and creatures, as we saw quite a few!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeYou’ll want to stop every few feet and simply take in the views…

Victoria Nui Sam Lodge… just watch your step, because a few parts of the trail get a little steep!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeEventually you come upon the spice and herb gardens used by the lodge kitchen staff to flavor the scrumptious regional cuisine at the on-site restaurant.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeJust before the trail terminates, you’ll find yourself atop an impressive overlook complete with a lily pond! The health trail was a short little hike, enough to get the blood pumping, but definitely a recommended activity while at the Nui Sam Lodge.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeVictoria Nui Sam LodgeVictoria Nui Sam LodgeA visit to the pool was just what we needed following a walk along the trail. Remember how we said there are amazing views everywhere you look at Nui Sam?! Well, the pool is definitely no exception!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeIt’s the perfect place to unwind and soak away any worries you may have.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeAfter you’ve been rejuvenated, it’s time to to get nourished at La Giang Restaurant & Bar. We enjoyed the nightly (5-7 pm) Happy Hour with 2-for-1 drinks along with our dinner. Our favorite meal (pictured below) was the Rau Chien Gion, deep fried crispy mixed vegetables, sauteed with sweet and sour sauce served with steamed rice. YUM!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeThe breakfast buffet served each morning was equally delicious! With fresh fruit, made-to-order eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, pastries, yogurt, and a wide assortment of jams and spreads, there was certainly plenty to choose from!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeSunset is a particularly magical time of day at the Nui Sam Lodge. Secure a spot on one of the many boulders just past the pool and enjoy the view! We’re surprised there weren’t more people out with us.

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeIt’s the perfect way to close out the day!

Victoria Nui Sam LodgeWe recommended you take a trip to the nearby Tra Su Forest (pictured below) during your stay in Nui Sam. We did a full-day tour with Buffalo Tours that included a stop here and it was a definite highlight during our stay in Southern Vietnam.

Tra Su ForestTo reach Victoria Nui Sam Lodge from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, you can either take a bus (4.5 hours) or speedboat (5 hours). (You will need to obtain a Vietnam passport prior to departure.) You can also reach Nui Sam via overland (bus) travel from Ho Chi Minh City (5 hours) or Can Tho (3 hours).

  1. What a great find! I love the view you had from your room, I can imagine it was very enjoyable to sit out there. Its great to read about the locations that others have discovered it only means that for me planning a trip becomes even more difficult because I never know where to choose.

  2. Love the pic of you at the sunset! Bonus points for this place because they rent out bicycles – but as a Dutchie I don’t have to tell you about my passion for getting to know a place while cycling!

  3. Oh wauw! Lot of space, lot of green – love it! I’m in on the Dutchies cycling thing too @antonette 😉

    • After living in California for so long (without much rain), we really enjoyed seeing so much green! And there certainly are many (flat) places to bike around here, which is nice.

  4. Oh my, the views from the room, the FOOD, the lily pond, the pool . . . it looks fantastic!!! Wow! Vietnam has been somewhere I’ve been just dying to visit 🙂 🙂

    • Everything was wonderful! (Well, minus the few geckos that made their way into our room.) We have been pleasantly surprised by Vietnam, and we’ve only been here about a week! Not that we weren’t expecting much; it’s just better than we ever imagined.

  5. Gorgeous view you got up there!

  6. Love the views from up there and the pool as well. I WOULD definitely want to stop every now and then and just take it in

  7. What an amazing place to stay! The rooms are beautiful, the gardens too… the pool seems very relaxing but to me that view is hard to beat and I would go just for that!

  8. Gorgeous! The hiking area and view from the pool look fantastic.

  9. This place looks incredible. I love all your pictures but the one with bicycle on the tree the most 😉 We chose our acom during the stay in Yucatan based on who rents bicycles. My favourite activity in a new place.

  10. What a gorgeous resort. I would love to stay there–the views are absolutely spectacular! That’s great they have bikes to take out for a spin and the hiking trail looks great, too!

  11. This doesn’t even look like Vietnam but somewhere in Europe! Love the greenery and the views over the plains

  12. This looks like great place to stay. The surrounding scenery is really green. Plus the place is bikers friendly I see:)

    • Everyone loves riding bikes, I see. Funny thing is, we didn’t actually use them, though they were available. If we had one more day, we probably would’ve gone for the bikes! Obviously the surrounding area is ripe for exploration!

  13. What a great looking place in an unbeatable location. Even though it is not looking over the sea that pool looks amazing. And of course you can never go wrong with a sunset that looks like that. Great find

  14. Amazing views! And lovely photos, sounds like a wonderful retreat 🙂

  15. I think you summed up this location in a nutshell… “perfect atmosphere to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature” What a gorgeous location this is and thank you for introducing us to this lodge. The panoramic views are stunning and can you imagine waking up to those every day before sampling some of that fine cuisine! Yeah, I am sold on this for sure!

  16. I am amazed how clean and well-kept the place is. Some really incredible vistas. When booking travel, I mainly stick to hostelworld and hostelbookers. I wonder if a place like this would be listed there.

    • This lodge would definitely not be listed on a hostel site. It costs more than the average accommodation in Vietnam, but you can see why! The nightly rate is still cheap for what you get when compared to the States or Europe! So a fraction of the cost for what you can get elsewhere in the world and it’s a fabulous and affordable getaway!

  17. It is located on a mountain so offers beautiful view over rice field. Around the lodge we can walk to visit local village & the mountain top. Very nice.
